In the heart of summer, we came together to create a music video for Bartosz “Chupa” Zawadzki. Bartosz is a musician and songwriter well-known in the rock scene. Leading several prominent bands, he has released multiple albums, many of which have achieved a cult status. Bartosz “Chupa” Zawadzki is also a soccer coach, youth mentor, and bartender. The video we worked on was for Bartosz “Chupa” Zawadzki’s solo album. From the beginning, we knew that “Między nami” would be a romantic rock ballad, showcasing a completely different side of Chupa. This time, he chose softer melodies, sung in Polish (not English).
We spent some time scouting for the right location to set this love story. We knew we wanted mostly outdoor shots - such a beautiful summer couldn’t go to waste. Pilwa 17 -Glamping na Mazurach was the perfect choice. It offers not only a beautiful setting among the most stunning lakes and forests but also an amazing retro vibe, with vintage camping trailers, an old barn, a food truck, and antique farm buildings. The charm of Pilwa 17 Glamping na Mazurach enchanted us entirely. The hospitality of the hosts - Małgosia, Tomek and their family - was boundless. We had the whole glamping area to ourselves, and the surroundings added so much to the shots. Even though the weather was sometimes unpredictable. Outdoor filming requires patience, a solid schedule, and…a bit of luck. We had it all.
The female role was played by Marta Gromanowska, an experienced model and actress. An interesting fact: the last time we worked with Marta was nearly 20 years ago when we were all just starting in the industry. Marta perfectly understood her role, bringing many beautiful shots and ideas, which sped up the work and added to the final result. The male role was played by vocalist and songwriter Bartosz “Chupa” Zawadzki himself. His experience on stage and from past music videos made the process smoother. Chupa knew how he wanted to portray his character. His clear vision and trust in us shaped the final look of the video. We worked in a small, four-person crew and the atmosphere on set was perfect. This led us to a classic, lyrical story about unfulfilled love, loneliness, the challenges of human communication, and nature.
P.S. We could go on about why the video was supposed to be black-and-white but isn’t, how many times we shot the final scene in the lake, who won the chess game, and what it’s like to produce a music video while watching Euro 2024 in a barn - but that’s a whole different story…
